J.J. Abrams has added Mission: Impossible III colleague Stratton Leopold to the list of fellow executive producers for Star Trek XI.

Leopold will serve as unit production manager, according to TrekMovie.com. In this capacity, he will oversee the film's budget.

Because budgeting is usually the final hurdle before a film is greenlit for production, Leopold will begin work in January when a more complete draft of the script is expected to be finished. A source at the studio told TrekMovie.com that Leopold's first task will be working on the film's budget, with production expected to take place in 2007 for a 2008 release.

Leopold has worked on other Paramount projects such as The Sum of All Fears and Paycheck. The Internet Movie Database has a fuller list of his credits.
