NBC Cancels 'The Black Donnellys'

The Black Donnellys - the heavily promoted family drama from Academy Award winners Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco that featured Kate Mulgrew (Janeway) as the matriarch - has been cancelled by NBC.

"It was a Bloody Monday in TV land as the nets delivered bad news to the casts and crews of several skeins," reported Variety. Several other shows, including Six Degrees and 7th Heaven, were cancelled the same day.

A new reality show based on Wedding Crashers will move into The Black Donnellys' desirable time slot after Heroes. Only two episodes of the Irish family fable aired after new episodes of Heroes before that ratings hit went on spring hiatus.

Wedding Crashers will debut on Monday, April 23rd at 10 p.m. after Heroes. NBC executives liked the show and decided to air it in that time slot rather than on Sunday nights to expose it to the Heroes lead-in. The Black Donnellys episodes will be avaiable on NBC's web site and on iTunes.
