Star Trek Trivia Contest Underway!

By Amy
March 13, 2001 - 8:31 PM

Over at the Psi Phi's Books Database, the Second Annual Star Trek Trivia Contest is now underway, featuring questions from the upcoming book, 'The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book, Volume II' by Jill Sherwin.

In a change from the format of last year, there will be 10 questions posted every other day over a 9-day period for a total of fifty questions, rather than three a day over two weeks. Contestants will now have a three to four day window in which to submit their answers.

The questions themselves, as previously mentioned, will be taken from the second, revised edition of the 'The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book'. The book itself contains more than two thousand new questions, quizzes, and brainteasers - this on top of the almost three thousand in the original edition. Questions encompass a vast range of topics from all areas of Star Trek fact and fandom, from 'Galactic History' to 'Command Questions', 'Strategies and Tactics' to 'Star Trek Romances'.

Last year's trivia contest had three first place winners, all tied on 44 points apiece from 42 questions - Jim McCain, Nicholas Roche and Darryl Tam. They, along with the next seven highest-placed entrants, all received copies of 'The Definitive Star Trek Trivia Book'. This year's prize is believed to be the second edition of the book. International fans will be pleased to note that it's open to all takers, save employees of Pocket Books, Paramount, active members of Psi Phi Sector 001 and their immediate families.

The first set of questions has been released, and can be found by following this link. The deadline for those entries is 11:59pm CST, March 15, 2001 (5:59am GMT, March 16, 2001). The next set of questions will be released tomorrow. To find out more, or to participate, visit Psi Phi's Books Database or the contest's Quick Reference Guide.
