Ryan Misses Her 'Voyager' Family

Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) may be enjoying her new role on Boston Public, but that doesn't mean she's forgotten her fellow Voyager cast members.

"I miss the people I spent so many hours with every day," Ryan said in a question and answer session at E! Online. "You really do become like family. But since my boyfriend [Brannon Braga] is the co-creator of Enterprise, the newest Star Trek series, I don't really feel like I'm away from it at all."

Compared to Voyager, Ryan's Boston Public schedule is a breeze. "It's absolutely incredible!" she said. "It's more like being on vacation than working. It's so wonderful to be on a show when everyone's excited to be there and loving what they're doing. The main difference with this project is how civilized the schedule is. It's pretty unusual for a filmed show to keep its shooting day to 12 hours. So, I have lots of time to spend with my family."

The actress said she feels honoured to be part of a show attempting to present positive images of teachers. "I'm proud to be portraying what I feel is the most severely undervalued (and underpaid) profession in our society," Ryan said. "I'm proud of the way we present teachers' dedication and passion and sacrifice. That's quite positively the most important job there is. And it is our future they're dealing with - our kids."

For the full interview, in which Ryan also talked about her own high school experiences, head over to E! Online. Thanks to 'Captain Joe' for this!
