Nichols Plays Prostitute in Upcoming Film

Though she's playing a madam in the new film Lady Magdalene's, in which a Department of Homeland Security officer is investigating an Al-Qaeda plot in a brothel, locals in Nevada involved with the film are excited about the possibility of seeing Lieutenant Uhura, Nichelle Nichols.

"I just want to see the lieutenant," Kathy Nielson told The Pahrump Valley Times. Upon being told that Nichols was not on the set that day, she sighed, "I guess I'll have to watch the re-runs."

The Uhura actress plays title character Lady Magdalene, whose "brothel" has been constructed inside the home of a Pahrump Valley resident. Two scenes will be shot in the bedroom. Though Pahrump has actual brothels, the home was deemed to have the right mix of "cheesy velour" and other accoutrements.

Science fiction author J. Neil Schulman wrote and directed the film, in which a prostitute is murdered and ties are discovered to terrorists. He said he was inspired after learning about the Internal Revenue Service taking over the Mustang Ranch near Reno.
