Hello World!

This may sound strange coming from me, but I've decided I dislike sites who are uncareful about providing spoilers. A week ago, I visited an American television site (I think it was UltimateTV, and somewhere in the news links they very casually mentioned something about the huge surprise 'Ally McBeal' had caused by.... killing of Billy. When I saw it I wasn't really bothered by it, but yesterday I was watching the show, and I couldn't but help thinking with everything Billy did that none of it (including him finally becoming friends again with Ally) mattered much anyway, as he's going to die anyway in a few weeks - I didn't want to know that! Having said that, I'll from now on be even more careful in trying to avoid mentioning any spoilers on the TrekToday main page - headline descriptions will always indicate if there are spoilers inside an article, and I'll try not to make the headlines themselves revealing.

In other news, welcome to the new visitors from Section 31! Tim Hansen, Section 31's webmaster, is currently away to Los Angeles for a week, and while he's away the Section 31 main page will be updated with TrekToday headlines, so that regular Section 31 visitors still have access to all the latest news. Welcome to the site, and hopefully you'll enjoy our reports as much as you usually do Section 31's!

Today On TV

-At 8:00pm (7:00pm Eastern Time), UPN will be showing a special two-hour presentation of Voyager's 'Equinox' and 'Equinox, Part Two'. Here's how UPN describes the event:

'Equinox' Voyager finds another Federation starship lost in the Delta Quadrant, the science vessel U.S.S. Equinox, and helps it stave off an attack by creatures from another spatial realm. Captain Janeway, finding a kindred spirit in its commander, Captain John Ransom, helps him salvage his war-torn vessel so they can journey home together. But when The Doctor retrieves data from the Equinox research lab, Janeway discovers that Captain Ransom has seriously violated the Starfleet oath by committing mass murder in the Delta Quadrant. When she strips him of his command and confines him to quarters, he and his crew manage an escape with Voyager's advanced technology, taking The Doctor and Seven of Nine as hostages, as they leave the besieged Voyager to fight a constant attack by the provoked, powerful alien force who make no distinction between the Voyager and Equinox crews.

Poll Results

Below are the results of the most recent TrekToday poll:

Do you prefer the old or the new design?
The new design 43.2% - (186 Votes)
The old design 42.7% - (184 Votes)
No preference 13.9% - (60 Votes)

Total Votes: 430

As you can see, the results seem to be divided almost equally. As you can imagine, I did actually hope for a somewhat larger group of people preferring the new design, but I suppose such a radical design change as this always takes a bit of time to be accepted - as I recall the same thing happened back in July 1999 when we had our first design change. Anyway, fortunately we also still have the TrekToday Classic option available (which will also soon be joined again by the news from 1 and 2 days ago, for those relying solely on the TT Classic option), but I'm still hopeful over time more people will start to see the benefits of the new design.

In any case, thanks for participating, and please also take part in our new poll, asking what you think about the recent Series V reports:
