Star Trek Monthly Voyager Interviews

By Christian
March 12, 2000 - 11:12 PM

Christopher Howell at the Great Link has put up transcripts of two interviews which first appeared in the British 'Star Trek: Monthly' magazine. In the first interview, Robert Picardo (the Holodoc) is interviewed about 'One Small Step', which he directed, as well as the Public Service Announcement for the Mars Millennium Project he appeared in:

During the sixth season episode 11:59, Picardo appeared in a PSA (Public Service Announcement) for the Mars Millennium Project. Given his direction on One Small Step... and his PSA work, is it safe to assume that Picardo has a personal interest in the space programme? "I would say I have a personal interest in it now," he admits. "I have developed an interest in it during the years I've been working on Star Trek. Obviously, I met a lot of moonwalkers and astronauts through my experience acting on the show. At the 30th Anniversary Star Trek convention in Huntsville, Alabama, I met, I think, six moonwalkers. And I would say that some of the excitement of being around the 'realies' rubs off on you. I don't know how else to put it."

More can be found in the full interview. In addition, an interview has been put up with Olivia Birkelund, who appeared in the 'Equinox' two-parter as Ensign Gilmore, and who apparently wouldn't mind reprising that role:

"There was talk of Gilmore coming back when we shot the second episode," she reveals. "And it was mentioned again a little while after we'd finished it. But that was before I moved back to New York, so I honestly don't know what's happening now."

"I'd love to do Gilmore again though, because I thought she was a great character. She's very intelligent, but a warm woman. She was able to take charge and do her job well. And there's a lot of unexplored potential there. So it would be great to play Gilmore again."
