Allen Found 'Enterprise' Cast Warm, Makeup Cold

Orion slave girl Crystal Allen (D'nesh) was a fan of Star Trek long before she was cast on Enterprise as one of the three seductresses who tried to take over the ship.

"I remember watching them as a kid, thinking it was so cool and futuristic. I liked Spock the best," Allen told TrekWeb. "I was just really excited to be a part of a show that had such a loyal following."

She was unprepared for the green Orion makeup, however, which required five hours to put on. "It was cold!" she recalled. "That was the only thing that I didn't like...the process for 7 of 8 days."

A Canadian-born performer who studied dance and modeled before taking up acting, Allen said that the hardest aspect of her Enterprise role was dancing in the revealing costumes. "We were moving around like green snakes take after take with outfits that were quite restraining. I'm sure the crew enjoyed that day!" she joked. "Everyone made us feel welcome," she added, noting that there was a lot of joking around on the set.

Allen also enjoyed the fans at the Star Trek convention she attended last year in Las Vegas. "The fans are so sweet and loyal, for years. They all want their picture taken with us and want to know about the makeup and have a little chat." Her latest project, a film called Falling in Love With The Girl Next Door, also stars a science fiction icon, Babylon 5's Bruce Boxleitner.

More about Allen is available at her web site. The original interview is at TrekWeb.
