Walter Koenig (Chekov) will appear at the world premiere of his new film Mad Cowgirl when it debuts at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival on February 4th.

The film's web site explains that in the film, a young woman played by Sarah Lassez discovers that she is treated nearly as badly as the cows she inspects at slaughterhouses for the L.A. health department. When she goes on a violent rampage against men, no one is certain whether or not she has contracted mad cow disease.

The film co-stars Donnie Darko's James Duval and The Omega Code's Devon Odessa and is directed by Gregory Hatanaka.

Mad Cowgirl was named one of the Top 10 Unseen Films of last year by Film Threat, which said, "Rarely has an experimental film come along like 'Mad Cowgirl' that can take reckless and daring risks and earn a payback on its artistic gambling with a tenfold return."

Koenig, added the review, "is hilarious as the slimy, holier-than-none preacher who alternates between manipulation and groveling with equal degrees of abhorrence." He plays television preacher who becomes a love interest of the female lead.

Mad Cowgirl will Saturday, February 4th at 9:30 p.m. at the Roxie Cinema in the San Francisco Independent Film Festival.
