While waiting for Star Trek XI to be released, fans can now make their own animated adventures, complete with music and special effects.

As reported by Go!Animate, using officially licensed Star Trek images, even fans who don't have art talent can have fun making their own Star Trek video.

Today, February 10th, Go!Animate launched their Star Trek animation platform, which will allow fans to create stories starring their favorite characters. Users will be able to activate animated versions of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Chekov, Uhura as well as a few "bad guys" like Khan. These characters will have a full range of actions and expressions, in addition to dialogue (speech bubbles), backgrounds, props, special effects and musical themes.

Some of the backgrounds include the Bridge, Engineering, hallways, the transporter room, Sickbay and some planetary surfaces, such as Vulcan. Props include weaponry, communicators, tricorders, and other miscellaneous items. Sounds are taken from a library of original series sound effects and users can add their own sounds. Special effects include camera moves as well as special effects.

Once the animation is created, it can then be shared with friends, social networks and other Trek fans right from Go!Animate's site.
