The 90-second segment dealt mostly with the cast debunking rumours of Picard's death, though it also focused on the wedding of Riker and Troi and the presence of the Romulans in the film. The segment was apparently taped on a day when shooting was taking place in the Observation Lounge set, and featured both looks at the shooting process and on-set interviews with some prominent cast members.

Entertainment Tonight is produced by Paramount Pictures, the same company that also produces the Star Trek television series and movies. The show is often used as an early promotional tool for new Star Trek projects, and has over the past year also done stories on the Voyager finale and the Enterprise premiere.

Courtesy of MediaTrek, a digitised version of the clip is now available for download online. For the bandwidth-impaired, here first follows a full transcript:

[Patrick Stewart, wearing a fleece, looks incredulously at the interviewer.]
Stewart: "Contributing to a death scene for Picard? No, that's... there's no truth in that."
[Jonathan Frakes, wearing his uniform, shakes his head.]
Frakes: "No, Picard doesn't die. At least not in the pages I've gotten."
[Frakes, Marina Sirtis and Michael Dorn erupt in laughter while seated around the conference table.]

[LaForge gazes intently. The camera zooms out to reveal him sitting at the conference table with Picard and Riker.]
Picard: "It seems as though we are truly sailing into the unknown."
[A flash. Picard leans back smiling, coinciding with the last tones of the TNG fanfare.]

[In the studio, Mary Hart again turns to the camera, while an insert shows Data.]
Hart: "ET has also learned that in that wedding ceremony Data, played by Brent Spiner, gets to sing."

The actual segment can now be downloaded as a 15-MB MPEG clip or as a 3-MB RealVideo clip from MediaTrek.com, which also provides links to several mirrors. In addition, the official Entertainment Tonight site still features a somewhat more in-depth interview with Patrick Stewart.
