'Renaissance Man' Set Visit

Occasional Voyager script-writer Phyllis Strong spoke to interviewers on 'Renaissance Man' during a recent set visit by SciFi Wire. 'Renaissance Man', co-written byt Strong and writing partner Mike Sussman, is the last regular Voyager episode of the season, and will see the Doctor go deep undercover, even to the extent of impersonating some of the crew, to save his Captain.

It certainly goes to show just how high fan curiosity is running at the moment that when Strong logged onto the web one day and found rumours and speculation about the episode - while she was still in the middle of writing the script. It's not likely that she actually read any of the rumours - she's "wondered if they came up with anything good". While she does like Star Trek a lot ("it's great"), she doesn't live for it, and also doesn't quite get the 'obsession' many have with the show.

Aside from the interview, the set visit gave the Sci-Fi Wire a chance to watch some of the shooting and rehearsing for the episode, which started at the beginning of this week. According to them, "in one scene, the Doctor assumes the voice of Capt. Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew); in another, he morphs into Lt. B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Dawson)." The episode, it turns out, is being directed by Voyager veteran Mike Veja, not Allan Kroeker as originaly announced.
