Veteran Trek director David Carson last week signed on to helm the thriller 'Nine Lives.'

Promoted as a cross between 'Jacob's Ladder' and 'The Bourne Identity,' the film will star Wesley Snipes ('Demolition Man,' 'Blade') as a former soldier who is injected with an hallucinogenic mind-control drug, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Finding himself on the run, he must search for the antidote while battling his foes, his inner demons and the illusions the drug allows his enemies to create," the trade paper said.

Written by Tom Vaughan, whose credits include the TV movies 'Dead in a Heartbeat' and 'Atomic Twister,' 'Nine Lives' will be produced by Millennium Films and the Jacobson Co. Jim Wedaa and Tom Jacobson ('Mission to Mars') will serve as producers with Avi Lerner ('Prozac Nation') and Brad Jenkel. Principal photography is slated to begin March 30 in Bulgaria.

Carson's Trek work includes the first Next Generation feature film, 'Star Trek: Generations,' and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine pilot, 'Emissary.' He has also helmed episodes of Smallville, Birds of Prey and Odyssey 5, as well as the recent 'Carrie' telemovie, which was written by former Star Trek: Voyager scribe Bryan Fuller.
