While Paramount has yet to officially announce the DVD box sets, several details were already presented at the British Amazon site, including three photos of the packaging for the DVDs. Paramount will be releasing The Next Generation in seven box sets, which can be combined together as seen in the picture below left. The box sets themselves will contain a fold-out package containing seven discs, as seen in the picture below right.

The above images are from the Region 2 version of the DVD box sets, which according to Amazon will be released in the United Kingdom starting on the 4th of March. The second-season box set will be released on the 6th of May, with further seasons rumoured to appear every two months from then. An official release date for the Region 1 TNG DVDs has not yet been announced, nor is it certain they will be using the same packaging.

Also as yet unannounced are the special features that will be included on the DVDs, though the British DVD Times reported these could include cast and crew interviews on the production of the series, the cast's memories of season-one highlights and selected episode commentaries by Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard) and Jonathan Frakes (William T. Riker).

European fans may now pre-order both the first and second season of The Next Generation on DVD, and support TrekToday in the process. Amazon.co.uk has both the season-one set and the season-two set for a current price of £71.99, while the German Amazon.de is taking pre-orders for season one and season two for €139,99. Please note that these are Region 2 DVDs and will generally only work on players in Europe, the Middle East and Japan.
