Colm Meaney (Miles O'Brien) joins onetime teen heartthrob Christopher Atkins battle deadly ancient rhinoceros beetles in an upcoming Sci Fi Channel original movie.

Meaney and Atkins star in Caved In: Prehistoric Terror, which debuts in January, according to The Futon Critic. In the film, a family working in Romania as cave guides becomes separated underground by thieves planning to rob the local caverns and finds itself under attack by the ferocious beetles.

HorrorChannel.com, which has a poster from the film featuring a large beetle, notes that movies about people trapped in caves with monsters are in vogue at the moment, though Centipede! and The Cave lack the allure of prehistoric rhinoceros beetles.

"They are the strongest living creatures on the planet, capable of lifting 850 times their own weight; the equivalent of you or me hoisting about 75 full-sized cars on our backs. And they make a loud hissing noise when threatened," explained the article. "Yep, these bad boys are perfect monster movie fodder...of course, they’re also found in the rainforests near the equator and not Romanian caves."

The film also stars Angela Featherstone and is directed by Richard Pepin.

Caved In will air Saturday, January 7th at 9 p.m. Eastern time on the Sci Fi Channel.
