Fan-written real-life stories about the Star Trek phenomenon have been collected for the first time in a new book published last month.

Edited by entertainment writer Nikki Stafford, 'Trekkers: True Stories By Fans For Fans,' is filled with tales that range from humorous anecdotes to tear-jerking testimonies.

The book includes the stories of a man who thrived on the peaceful message of the Original Series whilst fighting in the Vietnam War, and a woman who performed the Klingon Death Howl at the funeral of close friend.

On the lighter side, look out for the Trekker who started his own television fan club, and the woman who got to know William Shatner (James T. Kirk) after becoming the president of his official fan club.

ECW Press has ten copies of 'Trekkers' to give away to fans. To enter the contest, send an email containing your name and address to trekcontest@ecwpress.com before May 31. Please do not send multiple entries.

The book is currently available in the United States and Canada, and will be released in the United Kingdom and Australia soon. Alternatively, 'Trekkers' can be ordered here at Amazon.com.

Further information can be found at the ECW Press web site.
