UPN has released an official synopsis and cast list for "Daedalus", the first new episode of Star Trek: Enterprise following a winter holiday hiatus from broadcast.

The Futon Critic has reproduced the following plot description for the episode:

The crew welcomes Emory Erickson, the inventor of the transporter device, on board for a series of experiments to test a radical upgrade to the technology, but once Enterprise reaches the test site, Archer realizes that his old family friend has lied and is using the ship to search for his son, lost years before in a transporter misfire.
A subplot of the episode will see T'Pol begin to rethink her sense of what it means to be Vulcan in the aftermath of her mother's death.

"Daedalus", which will air next Friday, January 14th on UPN, was written by Alan Brennert and Ken LaZebnik and directed by David Straiton. Guest cast members include Bill Cobbs as Emory and Leslie Silva as his daughter Danica.

The original synopsis and information may be found at The Futon Critic.
