A special screening of 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan' is to kick off the American Cinematheque 3rd Annual Festival of Fantasy, Horror & Science-Fiction in August.

The event will also serve to promote the special director's edition of the film, which will be released on the 6th of August. The screening itself will take place two days later, on the 8th of August.

Special guests at the celebration will include the film's director Nicholas Meyer, along with the movie's stars, George Takei (Hikaru Sulu) and Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov). All three will be on hand after the screening to field questions from the audience.

The American Cinematheque organises the showing of speciality film series at the Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. The movie theatre dates from 1922 and is a historical landmark. The organisation's mission is to bring unique film experiences - and opportunities to meet the film makers who created them - to Southern California audiences and visitors to Los Angeles.

More information on the event and the American Cinematheque can be found at its official web site. The original article can be found at here at StarTrek.com.
