Hello World!

Thank-you to everyone who sent in information about the painted cows exhibition, which seems to be world-wide phenomenon. They even have two web sites: CowCollector.com and CowParade.net.

I had the opportunity to check them out more closely today - one of them was decorated with a train map, while another cow, clearly female, was dressed in a bright-red skirt. Although they're not exactly to my taste, I'm sure they'd be a hoot for cow lovers.

Brisbane was also put on the map in another big way recently. I finally had a chance to see 'Dear Doctor' last night, and Hoshi mentioned she used to have a pen pal from Brisbane. Nice to know we'll still be here in the 22nd century!

Trek Two Years Ago

These were some of the major news items on June 5-7, 2000:

  • Star Trek X Screenwriter Revealed?
It was rumoured that 'Lost In Space' writer Akiva Goldsman would be penning the next Trek feature film. However, Rick Berman's office later confirmed Goldsman, who this year won an Oscar for writing 'A Beautiful Mind,' was definitely not involved.

  • Star Trek X Rumours Continue
Two days after the Goldsman rumour, 'Gladiator' screenwriter David Franzoni was the next scribe said to be writing 'Star Trek X.' This was at least slightly warmer than the previous report, for 'Star Trek: Nemesis' was actually written by John Logan, another screenwriter who worked on 'Gladiator.'
