40th Anniversary Conventions Announced

Planet Xpo has announced plans for a 40th anniversary Star Trek celebration in September at the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle.

At the Planet Xpo web site, the company has announced a gala from September 8-10th with seats for only 400 people. Guests will include the original series' Nichelle Nichols (Uhura), George Takei (Sulu), Walter Koenig (Chekov), Grace Lee Whitney (Rand) and Majel Barrett Roddenberry (Chapel), plus Next Generation stars Jonathan Frakes (Riker) and Marina Sirtis (Troi) and Voyager's Tim Russ (Tuvok).

Also at the gala will be keynote speaker Buzz Aldrin and astronaut Alan Bean to talk about space travel. Several writers and other guests are also expected.

Creation Entertainment has conventions scheduled for the same weeked in Sacramento and Chicago, both featuring William Shatner (Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) on different days.

The Sacramento convention will also have Robert Duncan McNeill (Paris) and John de Lancie (Q) in attendance, while the Chicago convention will have de Lancie, Robert Picardo (The Doctor) and Ethan Phillips (Neelix).
