A new Star Trek trivia game is about to arrive for mobile phones and World Wide Web users.

Business Wire reports that Sennari Entertainment has acquired a license for Star Trek from Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products for its PrizePlay Mobile Game Series, allowing the company to create prize-based games in both mobile and web versions.

"Making the Star Trek franchise a marquee part of Sennari's PrizePlay offering will be a great way to reward millions of loyal Star Trek fans," said Sandi Isaacs, a vice president at Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products. The PrizePlay service uses requires that users pay for each game and offer the opportunity to win a prize in every game. Players collect points that can be redeemed for prizes using a mobile phone or the internet.

"Star Trek is easily one of the most widely recognized franchises in the history of science fiction," said Sennari CEO Bill Barhydt at IGN.com, which claimed that fans could "win stuff for knowing how many ridges are on a Klingon's forehead."

The game is expected to be available during the first quarter of 2006.
