Hello World!

As I type, there are bangs echoing around the neighbourhood and mad flashes lighting up the sky. No, England has not suddenly become a war zone, it's just November 5th again.

The dog has been steadfastly curled up on my lap since I came through the door at about half past five. She hates fireworks, and has refused all attempts to remove her from her comfortable spot.

Incidentally, this is the first evening we've had in a long time that hasn't had a power cut for a brief moment. Maybe all the fireworks are helping.
