Colm Meaney (Miles O'Brien), who spent many television seasons as a recurring character on Star Trek: The Next Generation and then a regular on Deep Space Nine, has joined the cast of the ABC pilot 60 Minute Man.

The Hollywood Reporter noted via Yahoo! that Meaney and Sarah Jones, recently of Queer as Folk, would appear in the drama pilot along with JAG's David James Elliott. The plot focuses on a family man whose memory lapses lead him to suspect that he may be involved in a major conspiracy.

The series is being produced by the creator of Boomtown, added The Futon Critic, which pointed out that this is Graham Yost's second pilot order for the 2006-07 season. Yost and Chris Brancato are writing the pilot script about the protagonist, who loses his memory for one hour each day.

The Futon Critic also reported that Yost and Brancato would be joined as executive producers by Bert Salke. The project will be directed by feature film director Jon Avnet, another Boomtown alumnus.

Meaney has kept busy since Deep Space Nine went off the air. He appeared in the acclaimed 2004 film Layer Cake and recently played a recurring role in another genre franchise, Stargate: Atlantis. A more complete listing of his credits is at the Internet Movie Database.
