What the Bleep? Down the Rabbit Hole, a 2004 film about quantum physics starring Armin Shimerman (Quark), is being released this month in a new extended version.

The original movie was half-documentary, half-drama, according to StarTrek.com, which noted that Shimerman played a wise angelic character. The recut film has trimmed down the fictional story in favour of new documentary material, including interviews and added animated sequences.

The new What the Bleep? "includes important new scientific findings that highlight the very real and deepening link between quantum mechanics, neurobiology, human consciousness and day-to-day reality," explained the film's web site, which explained that the version opening in February introduces two new scientists and features three new animations.

In addition to Shimerman, the film stars Academy Award winning actress Marlee Matlin and character actor Barry Newman. Director Mark Vicente, a onetime news cameraman, got his big break as Director of Photography on the musical Sarafina starring Whoopi Goldberg (Guinan).

The extended edition of What the BLEEP? premieres in February at selected theatres in the US. WhatTheBleep.com has show dates. The original version of the movie may be ordered on DVD from Amazon.com.
