Pocket Books has announced the winners in its ninth Strange New Worlds contest, including several contributors from previous years.

Psi Phi has posted the complete list of winners and runners-up, all of whom will be published in an upcoming Strange New Worlds paperback anthology. R.S. Belcher's "Orphans" took the top prize.

The three top prize winners will receive a cash bonus as well as the publishing contract given to all 23 of the selected writers. The winners will also be invited to the Shore Leave convention in Baltimore, Maryland as special guests, according to StarTrek.com.

13 of the 23 writers chosen for the next anthology, which is scheduled to be published in August, have appeared in previous volumes. Second prize winner Susan S. McCrackin, for instance, has written two previous Voyager stories for Strange New Worlds.

The entries were judged by Dean Wesley Smith with Elisa J. Kaplan and Paula M. Block.
