Nichelle Nichols Stars In 'Lady Magdalene's'

Lady Magdalene's, the new movie starring Nichelle Nichols, will premiere at the San Diego Black Film Festival.

As reported at The Open Press, the first film-festival screening of Lady Magdalene's, will occur at the fifth annual San Diego Black Film Festival, which is to be held from January 31 to February 3, 2008. The 108-minute theatrical cut was completed in November of 2007.

Lady Magdalene's tells the story of an IRS agent who is exiled after insulting a powerful U.S. Senator, to a humiliating desk job in Nevada as the federal receiver managing a legal brothel in tax default. With the help of the Madam of the brothel, Lady Magdalene, played by Nichols, he uncovers an Al Qaeda plot to unload a nuclear bomb-sized crate at Hoover Dam.

Nichols, who played Lieutenant Uhura on Star Trek and Nana Dawson on Heroes is both the star of Lady Magdalene's and one of the executive producers, the other being J. Neil Schulman. Nichols also assisted in the choreography of Lady Magdalene's and composed two original songs for the film, which she performed. Nichols began singing when she was sixteen and credits her discovery to Duke Ellington.
