UPN Developing 'Teen Wolf' Drama

Seeking a replacement for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, UPN is developing a dramatic series based on the 1985 film Teen Wolf.

Zap2It reported that UPN hopes to have the same luck taking a mediocre horror film and turning it into a very successful TV show. The movie starred Michael J. Fox as a college student who becomes a werewolf.

According to an item on Yahoo!, producer Warner Bros. plans to emphasize the traditional horror mythology, with dark humor like Buffy's but without the broad comedy of the film.

UPN has given a script commitment to 3rd Rock From the Sun director Terry Hughes and screenwriter Ron Milbauer.

The series could become part of UPN's 2004-5 lineup if it goes forward. UPN has developed several other science fiction and fantasy shows, including a remake of The Twilight Zone and current Enterprise lead-out Jake 2.0.
