Hemsworth On Star Trek 4: It Wasn’t The Money

1 min read

It was thought that Chris Hemsworth, slated to play George Kirk, the father of James T. Kirk, turned down appearing in Star Trek 4 due to money issues, but that was not why he declined to participate.

While doing press for Men in Black: International, which opens June 14, the actor was asked about Star Trek 4, which appears to be shelved permanently after both Hemsworth and Chris Pine backed out of the film.

Fans believed that both Pine and Hemsworth declined to participate in Star Trek 4 due to salary issues. But for Hemsworth at least, it was more the script that was the problem for the actor. “I didn’t feel like we landed on a reason to revisit that yet,” he said to Variety. “I didn’t want to be underwhelmed by what I was going to bring to the table.”
