Goldberg: I’d Like To Be Part Of The New Picard Show

1 min read

Whoopi Goldberg, who worked with Sir Patrick Stewart on The Next Generation, would like to work with him again on a Star Trek show.

The actress was a guest on David Tennant‘s new podcast where she also revealed that years ago, she pitched herself as the first female Doctor Who.

“The ideas of that [a lead role in Doctor Who] just made me so happy,” she told Tennant. But “they were like, ‘Um, no.'”

Goldberg is definitely a fan of science fiction. “I always felt like science fiction predicted the future,” she said. “Whether it was climate change, hand computers, or being able to move around in new dimensions.”

The talk turned to Star Trek when Tennant said, “You could presumably go back to Star Trek. Patrick Stewart is back at it.”

Goldberg: “I know. But, you know, they have not asked me.”

Tennant: “You need to ask them again. They would probably think you are kidding.”

Goldberg: “Well, I don’t know. Maybe. I will. I’ll put it out there.”

Tennant: “Well, this could be it. We are putting it out there.”

Goldberg: “All right. We are putting it out there right now.”

The podcast can be found here. The Trek comments come at the 42:11 mark. The Doctor Who comments come just slightly before the Trek discussion.
