New Star Trek: Short Treks Directors Announced

1 min read

Two new directors for brand-new Star Trek: Short Treks episodes have been revealed at the Television Critics Association Winter Event, and they are familiar names to Trek fans. Plus: Spock!

Michael Giacchino, who composed the music for the Kelvin Timeline Trek movies, is one of the directors. Olatunde Osunsnami, who is a Discovery director and producer, will direct the other Short Trek.

Both Short Treks will be animated, and both will air after Season Two of Star Trek: Discovery is completed.

This season will mark the debut of Spock in Discovery. Alex Kurtzman said that the “gray area of not knowing what happened to Spock” [after The Cage] will create an “amazing opportunity” for Discovery‘s writers.

Heather Kadin promised fans that “When you see [Spock], it’s going to be so different from what you expected.”

There’s no word on which episode Spock will first appear, but rumor is that it might be on episode seven.

Don’t forget to watch the newest Discovery episode tonight on CBS All Access.
