Shankar On Star Trek 4 Minus Pine

1 min read

Producer Adi Shankar (Dredd, The Grey, Lone Survivor) was asked if Star Trek 4 could be made without Chris Pine.

Pine and Chris Hemsworth have both walked away from the film after salary negotiations broke down. The actors wanted more money than Paramount Pictures was willing to pay.

Star Trek 4 would feature Star Trek films’ first female director, S.J. Clarkson. It would also have as guest star Danai Gurira, who is slotted for a “key role” in the movie.

“Losing Pine and Kirk is not a big deal and kind of cool,” said Shankar. “Actors don’t matter, stories do. This is the universe presenting an opportunity to do something different and boldly go where no suits have gone before.”
