An ad on Facebook has annoyed the eighty-seven-year old William Shatner.
The ad, from Avocet Retail Sales, began with “Fans will always hold a special place for ‘Captain Kirk,” after William was found…” and at the bottom of the ad, “Beloved Sci-Fi Actor Found D…”
A fan let Shatner know about the ad, and Shatner was not happy. “Hey @facebook isn’t this your messenger app?” he said, via Twitter. “What’s up with you allowing this Acocet Retail Sales ad to pass your muster? Thought you were doing something about this?”
Facebook‘s Director of Product Management, Rob Leathern, responded to Shatner’s post. “Thanks for letting us know about this,” he said. “We have removed this ad and Page from Facebook.”
“Thank you,” replied Shatner. “I’m not planning on dying so please continue to block those kinds of ads.”
