Star Trek: Discovery 2018 Start Date Announced

2 min read

CBS has announced the airing date of the second chapter of the premiere season of the show. Note that there are spoilers for the episode below. Plus: more on this Sunday’s forthcoming episode!

Discovery will return on Sunday, January 7, at 8:30 PM, with the tenth episode, Despite Yourself. This episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes.

in Despite Yourself, “while in unfamiliar territory, the USS Discovery crew is forced to get creative in their next efforts to survive opposing and unprecedented forces and return home.”

After Despite Yourself, the show will air the next five weeks, finishing up on February 11, 2018.

Before all of that though, there is still one more episode to go in the first half of the season – Into the Forest I Go.

In this episode, “bypassing Starfleet’s orders, Lorca uses the USS Discovery crew’s ultimate asset, the ship itself, in an effort to end the war with the Klingons once and for all.”

Aaron Harberts spoke about Into the Forest I Go, saying that “I absolutely adore episode nine. There’s a clash of characters, there are several reckonings that happen. There are a couple of things that I don’t think the audience is going to see coming. The back half of the season is all about dealing with what happens next week. We really put the pedal to the metal.”

“Things really kick into high gear,” said Sonequa Martin-Green. “They also get very, very, very emotional as well. I love there’s going to be a bit of a break for everyone to think about things before the punch of the last half of the season.”
