Takei To Receive AWFF Award

The original series’ George Takei will receive an award at this year’s Asian World Film Festival, which begins today and ends November 2.
The Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) “brings the best of a broad selection of Asian World cinema to Los Angeles in order to draw greater recognition to the region’s wealth of filmmakers, strengthening ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.”
The actor will receive a lifetime achievement award after his Allegiance film closes the festival on November 2.
Takei is “an amazing human being, which is why we consider him the perfect candidate for our Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Georges Chamchoum, AWFF’s executive director. Chamchoum also said that Takei’s acting work and his activism were reasons for the honor.
