Shatner Sends Message to Spacecraft

1 min read

The original series’ William Shatner has sent a message to Voyager. No, not THAT Voyager, but NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft, which launched forty years ago and which is exploring the outer planets of our solar system.

The actor read a message created by the winner of a contest whose goal was to “find the perfect goodwill message – under sixty characters long” to send to Voyager 1. The contest was to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the launch of the spacecraft from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

“We offer friendship across the stars. You are not alone,” said the message, submitted by contest winner Oliver Jenkins.
