Trek-themed UK Blackpool Illuminations

1 min read

This year’s UK Blackpool Illuminations will feature a Star Trek-themed ceremony instead of a “big-name” star.

The yearly event attracts thousands, and includes live performances. This year’s performances will feature Example, DJ Wire, Diversity, Conor Maynard, and Louisa Jackson.

“We are delighted that one of the world’s most iconic TV franchises is to take part in this year’s Illuminations switch-on,” said Councillor Gillian Campbell, deputy leader of Blackpool Council. “A huge amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to produce what should be another truly memorable event. This year’s switch-on ceremony will be delivered in a totally unique and innovative way, creating a spectacular launch pad for the 2017 Illuminations season. “We can’t wait to see it unfold on the night.’

The main show begins at 7 PM. Performances by Jackson, Maynard, and Diversity will be followed by the Trek switch-on. After the switch on, the other performers will appear for an “hour-long party under the lights.”
