New Star Trek: Discovery Crew Interview

1 min read

In a short interview with TV Insider, Star Trek: Discovery actors shared their excitement about taking part in an iconic franchise, speaking briefly about their various characters.

The actors involved in the interview include Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, James Frain, Mary Wiseman, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif and Anthony Rapp.

The actors feel the pressure of being in Star Trek, but are excited about all the first times. Putting on the uniforms was “very exciting,” said Martin-Green, who said that all of the firsts have been exciting for the actors. “We have those moments all the time. Putting on the uniform for the first time. Seeing the ship for the first time. Going to your station for the first time…We’re reveling in these moments.”

Isaacs spoke about his character, Captain Lorca. Lorca is “the right person to be in charge during a war,” said Isaacs. “He’s a troubled guy but he’s the man you want to follow during times of trouble.”

A “real bonding moment,” said Isaacs, is shifting “left two three” – and the Discovery actors leaned to the left as in so many Trek episodes when the ship was fired on – “when the ship is getting [bombed], you all have to run to one side of the other. That’s the time you really know you’re in Star Trek.”
