No Shatner In Star Trek Beyond

Sorry, original Kirk fans, but there will be no cameo by William Shatner in Star Trek Beyond.
The word comes from none other than Shatner himself.
“There was never a conversation,” he said, denying rumors that he had been in serious talks for a cameo role.
Supposedly when Roberto Orci was writing for the movie, Shatner’s return would have been key to a storyline.
“It would have been interesting to see what their fertile imaginations could have done with somebody who is twenty years older than when Captain Kirk died and how they would have explained the difference in appearance,” said Shatner. “But that never came up. I’m sure they must have thought of it one time or another but I never had a substantial conversation about replaying the role.”
