Shatner To Receive Award

William Shatner is to be recognized by The Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS) in November.

The actor will receive the Icon Award from SOVAS at the Second Annual Voice Arts Awards Gala.

“The Voice Arts Awards is an open competition voted upon by experts within the various fields that constitute the entry categories. The purpose of the Voice Arts Awards is to provide international acknowledgement of the extraordinary skill and artistry that goes into the voiceover acting and the associated roles and to hold up a best-in-class standard of achievement to which the voiceover industry can continually aspire.”

“We are thrilled that William Shatner will attend the [Voice Arts Awards] ceremony to receive this distinguished honor, which is more than well deserved,” said SOVAS CEO Rudy Gaskins. “His legendary presence will add to the elation that will be felt by attendees — some of the world’s best voice artists — who are overjoyed that these awards now exist to formally acknowledge and applaud top tier voiceover work.”

“In voiceover work, the fewer the words, the better the message,” said Shatner. “I am honored by this award.

Shatner will receive his award on November 15.

  1. I’ve never heard Shatner “do a voice”. Shatner is always “being Shatner” – and they give him an award for it?

  2. @Bob- When reading this, I wondered the same thing- Its it for the movies in which we only heard him? I hate to say this- but my feelings about/for the man are beginning to go south- Not sure why.

  3. Shatner voices audiobooks, cartoons commercial and narrates for decades. Sorry but he’s an icon.
