A new Kickstarter campaign has been launched to raise money for a documentary about Leonard Nimoy.

The documentary, announced earlier this year, will be titled For the Love of Spock.

The project has been in the works for a while, said Adam Nimoy, begun when his father was still alive. “He felt as if he had plenty of time, but then he declined precipitously. I was struck with the outpouring of affection for him after he died, so this feels like the right thing to do.”

This will be a tribute to my dad and Spock. We have plenty to work from because my dad loved telling stories and he was very fond of the role.”

The Kickstarter for the project, which runs through July 1, seeks to raise $600,000 for the documentary. Costs include paying for the use of photos of the actor as Spock, dating back to the original series.

There will be perks offered for donations to the Kickstarter, including: a PDF of “Spock collectibles including historic magazine articles, home photography, and rare interviews with Leonard and the Nimoy family;” name credit on the website, a digital video bundle which includes never-before-seen interviews of Leonard, tickets to the screening of the documentary in Los Angeles or New York (tickets only, not travel expenses), autographs and more!
