A preview of The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, has been released.

Turing was a brilliant computer scientist, mathematician, and is considered the father of artificial intelligence.

During World War II, Turing was able to crack Germany’s Enigma Code, considered an unbreakable code at the time. Being able to read the Germans’ coded messages helped the allies to eventually win World War II, and no doubt saved thousands of lives.

Turing was not appreciated in his time, due to the fact that he was gay when that was not accepted and was considered to be a crime. He was forced to undergo a chemical castration to avoid jail, and eventually committed suicide.

The Imitation Game releases November 21.

  1. Your loss. And my gain, since I’ll then have an extra seat to prop my feet on.
