Star Trek into DarknessAnton Yelchin will be starting in a new comedy, The Driftless Area.

The Driftless Area is being adapted from Tom Drury’s novel.

In The Driftless Area, “the enigmatic Stella (Zooey Deschanel) and Pierre (Yelchin), a quietly resourceful bartender return to Yelchin’s hometown after the death of his parents. “When Pierre falls in love with Stella, he is unwittingly drawn into a circle of fate pitting him against the volatile criminal Shane (John Hawkes).”

Written by Tom Drury and Zachary Sluser, the film will be directed by Sluser. Others appearing in The Driftless Area include Ciaran Hinds, and Alia Shawkat.

“It is a great joy to be able to bring Tom Drury’s hauntingly beautiful story to life with such profoundly talented actors, all of whom have inspired me for years,” said Sluser.

Principal photography will begin next month.
