Last night, Benedict Cumberbatch appeared on Conan where the topics were acting, Star Trek, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Cumberbatch spoke about being a sex symbol, saying that this was not always the case in his eleven-year career.

“It’s very recent,” he said, referring to polls which rated his sexiness. “My face has changed that much in the last five or ten years. It’s surreal”

Cumberbatch described the types of roles he played while attending boarding school, and he also explained how he felt when the sexy shower scene cut featuring Khan was cut from Star Trek into Darkness. When told by J.J. Abrams that the scene was going to be cut from the movie, Cumberbatch was a bit disappointed due to the amount of work he had done beforehand so that he would look good in the scene. “…a just hell of a lot of working out, and that’s gone, but that’s fine, that’s how you roll when you do movies,” he said.
