Roberto Orci responded to a statement by Zachary Quinto regarding the status of Star Trek 3.
In his comments, Quinto claimed that “Star Trek 3 should be filming…next year.” Quinto added that he expected J.J. Abrams to direct the third rebooted Trekverse film.
“I’d love to have J.J. back,” said Orci. “We’re still talking to Paramount about what the scheduling might be and if we can all do it together again, but yeah I read that too and I was like, ‘Whoa, does [Quinto] know something I don’t? I’d better call him.’ He owes me a call.”
It is thought that Abrams would not be directing Star Trek 3 as he would be tied up directing Star Wars: Episode VII, which is expected to begin production next year.
