Shuttle Restoration Nears Completion

1 min read

The fan restoration of the original series Galileo shuttle is almost finished.

Trek fans Adam Schneider and Alec Peters have been working on the restoration of the twenty-foot-long, nine-foot-tall shuttle for months after the shuttle was purchased at auction last July.

“If you looked [at the shuttle] pre-restoration, all you would do is cry,” said Schneider. “When you look at the ‘post,’ you can see what the original design and intent was.

“… Star Trek is supposed to be our future in space. It is not fictional — it is, of course — but it isn’t intended to be a galaxy far, far away. It is intended to be what we do on this planet with our capabilities over the next few hundred years, and as such, it’s inspiring.”
