Cho Talks Trek And Sequel

2 min read

Star Trek XI‘s John Cho (Sulu) is excited about the new movie and has his own idea about what he would like to see in the sequel to J.J. Abrams‘s blockbuster.

Cho acknowledged that Star Trek XII will appear in 2012 and although he doesn’t know any details on the movie yet, is confident that it will be good, no matter what the story is. “Those are clever cats they’ve got over there and I’m excited about what it will be,” he said. “Whether it will be something we’ve seen in the Star Trek universe, whether it will continue to go into new directions…it will be interesting. I think they must have locked down a concept or an idea because I heard there was a big meeting, but I haven’t seen them since and I haven’t heard where they’re going with it.”

What would Cho like to see in a new Star Trek movie? “I’d love to see Khan out there,” he said. “That would be badass.”

Cho reminisced about Star Trek XI and shared his memory of seeing it in a screening for the first time. “My big moment was when I saw the movie for the first time in a small theater screening room at Paramount with Chris Pine and Zach Quinto and the rest of the cast,” he said. “I can’t remember exactly who was there, I think Zoe [Saldana] was there. But we all saw it in a little room and we were going nuts; bananas. We were so excited about it, because it so exceeded our expectations at that point. And when I saw it, I just wasn’t worried about business. I thought, ‘This is the kind of movie that will be around for a long time.’ I just felt that it would perform well in the long run.”
