Pine and Quinto On Good Day, New York

As seen in a video by FOX New York, the reality of Kirk wasn’t quite what Chris Pine expected when he took on the role. “I signed up,” he explained. “I was very excited. I thought I was going to be the hero of the movie and get the lady and beat people up, and it was actually the exact opposite.

Zachary Quinto explained Spock’s appeal to audiences. “Spock has a definitive magnetism because there’s a mystery to him,” he said.

TV Guide Star Trek XI Special

Speaking of television, TV Guide is airing a one-hour special, Big Movie Premiere, Star Trek, this Thursday, May 7th at 8:00 P.M. on the TV Guide channel.

The one-hour feature introduces viewers to the diverse cast and creative team, and provides behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and set secrets to prepare fans for the May 8th theatrical opening.

Big Movie Premiere: Star Trek features extensive sit-down interviews with the film’s diverse cast including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Chris Hemsworth, Bruce Greenwood, Faran Tahir, Eric Bana, Clifton Collins Jr. and director J.J. Abrams.

Orci-Kurtzman Interview

Star Trek XI Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman spoke with Ain’t It Cool News, where they spoke about the development of the script, the involvement of Damon Lindelof, and how difficult it was to write about the iconic characters. The pair also confess that they considered blowing up the Enterprise.

Saldana Credits Mother

As reported by Actressarchives, Zoe Saldana credits her mother with landing her the role of Uhura in Star Trek XI. “My mum was absolutely ecstatic when I got the role,” said Saldana. “But when director J.J. Abrams offered it I was sort of afraid of saying yes. My mother was like, ‘Zoe, are you crazy? It’s Uhura!’ She was like, ‘Oh my God. You have to do it!'”
