Star Trek Sequel In The Works

1 min read

Star Trek XI has not hit the big screen yet, but plans are already afoot for a sequel to it.

As reported by Variety, Paramount has hired Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof to write the screenplay for the sequel to Star Trek XI and they plan on submitting their script by Christmas.

J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk will return to produce Star Trek XII, which will probably appear in summer of 2011. Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof will also be credited as producers.

“There’s obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn’t even come out yet,” said Lindelof. “But we’re so excited about the first one, that we wanted to proceed.”

The story is still in its infancy, but the writers will take fan reaction to Star Trek XI into account. “Obviously we discussed ideas,” said Kurtzman, “but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month.”
