Not only is Enterprise set to go where no Star Trek series has gone before, but its opening title sequence and theme tune will be Trek firsts too.

A new report on the TrekWeb web site, claims that the opening title music will be a version of the Rod Stewart song 'Faith of the Heart.' The track appeared recently as part of the soundtrack to the film 'Patch Adams.'

The song will be performed by British opera sensation Russell Watson. The 27 year-old's debut album, 'The Voice' has been in the UK classical charts for months, and its sales have overtaken other opera sensations like the classic 'Three Tenors' album.

The report also claims that the Enterprise opening titles will not feature the traditional space graphics. Instead, the titles will be composed of scenes that highlight exploration through the ages, including a shot of the NASA space shuttle Enterprise. The titles will likely not feature images of the cast members, or the 'cast name as character' layout previously used in Star Trek series.

Russell Watson's story is a classic 'rags to riches' fairy tale. After years spent singing in pubs and clubs, the former welder travelled from his home in Manchester to London, where he turned up unannounced at the offices of the Decca record label. He was signed up on the spot, and has now performed all over the world. His talents can be heard on his debut album, 'The Voice' which mixes duets with rock stars - former 'Happy Mondays' and 'Black Grape' front man Shaun Ryder - with classics like 'Nesson Dorma' and 'Barcelona.'

The song, with its inspirational powerful lyrics, has a them of strength in the face of adversity. It's chorus features the lines "I'm going where my heart will take me, I've got faith to believe, And no one's gonna bend or break me, I can reach any star, I got faith - faith of the heart."

The original report on the Enterprise opening titles and theme can be found here. More information and song samples from Russell Watson can be found at his official web site. Please remember that none of the above information has been confirmed by Paramount, and is therefore very much subject to change.
