Bakula Assures Same Quality for 'Enterprise'

A lower budget won't affect the quality of Star Trek: Enterprise, Scott Bakula (Captain Archer) told the press last week.

Though Paramount cut its price per episode for the series nearly in half to guarantee its renewal by UPN, Sci Fi Wire has quoted Bakula stating at the UPN press tour that the change from film to digital video and other innovations have made it possible to maintain the show's quality with a lower price tag per episode.

"I know where the cuts are, where the money's coming out of, and it's not going to affect the show," he said. "I don't know how we're doing it — smoke and mirrors — but it's as big as a lot of the shows we made last year."

Having read the first two scripts for next season, Bakula added, "it's a show as big [as before]. We've got a great [cinematographer] who's figured out how...with the latest technology."
